I built Wildflower Wax Co. in my childhood bedroom when I was 16. It quickly became one of Singapore’s foremost vinyl record stores. By the time I turned 18, I grew it into a brick-and-mortar location – a thing of my dreams. Wildflower was featured on Esquire, Vogue, CNA Lifestyle, Singapore Art Week, etc.
And like many record collectors, I eventually found my way into this thing called advertising. After much deliberation, I still think it’s one of the best careers in the world.
I first cut my teeth in the creative department at BLKJ Havas as a copywriter.
Then I went to VICE (Virtue Worldwide) as a creative/producer.
At 20, I quit my job(s), sold my record store, and moved to the U.S. for Northwestern University – a place so cold I couldn’t wear shorts (my favorite) anymore.
Fortunately, I moved to California in sophomore year to work at Apple and could wear them quite freely again. I was a Design Writer intern on the iconic Marcom team and had the time of my life.
Soon after, I moved to Washington and became a politics reporter for the Medill News Service, reporting daily on Congress and the Trump administration. I’ve been published in the Washington Post for my live coverage of Virginia’s governor race on that landmark week of American elections. And while I tried my best, no, I haven’t seen him. (🍊)
Now I’m in SF at Andreeseen Horowitz (a16z) , helping craft the visual language of America’s most influential venture capital fund on the New Media team.
