Hi!
I’ve been blessed with eclectic experiences across advertising, journalism, production and the music business. Previously: Apple, VICE, Havas, The Washington Post, Wildflower Wax Co, Lacking Agency, etc.
I moved to the U.S in 2023 to study journalism, American Studies, and contemporary art at Northwestern University. I’m writing a thesis about the visual and social cultures of postmodern Americana and the Grateful Dead.
I graduate in Spring 2027 and am always looking for opportunities across creative, media, business and strategy.
(Read: I’ll sleep when I’m dead.)
RANDOM
I probably asked too many questions growing up. It got me sent to the principal's office more than once, but it also cracked open a lifelong obsession: figuring out what makes people, things, and movements tick.
That obsession took its first real shape when I was 16, in my childhood bedroom. I built Wildflower Wax Co., and it quickly became one of Singapore’s most popular Gen-Z vinyl record stores. By the time I turned 18, it had grown into a brick-and-mortar location – a thing of my dreams. Wildflower was featured on places like Esquire, Vogue, CNA Lifestyle and Singapore Art Week.
And like many record collectors, I eventually found my way into this thing called advertising.
(After much deliberation, I still think it’s one of the best careers in the world to have.)
I first cut my teeth in the creative department, starting at BLKJ Havas as a copywriter and then VICE (Virtue Worldwide) as a creative/producer. At 20, I quit my job(s), sold my record store, and moved to the U.S. for Northwestern University – a place so cold I couldn’t wear my favorite article of clothing anymore: shorts.
I was extremely lucky to wear shorts again in my sophomore summer, where I moved to Sunnyvale, California to intern at Apple’s Marcom department as a Design Writer. Those were some of the best times of my life.
Right now, I’m a politics reporter for the Medill News Service as part of my program at Northwestern, reporting daily on Congress, Supreme Court, and the Trump administration.
I’ve been published in the Washington Post for my coverage of Virginia’s governor race on a landmark week of American elections. And while I tried my best, no, I haven’t seen him. (🍊)
I also co-founded Lacking Agency, a cultural intelligence firm with my best friend Gabrielle Ang, where we’ve been doing some cool stuff for live music experiences and luxury beauty.
(Shh, it’s still WIP.)
I’m always seeking ways to marry creative problem solving with my obsession about understanding how the world works. I’m excited by nostalgia, writing for no audience (and all of it), counterculture, music turned up loud, and the work, the work, the work.
If you might have a clue on what that looks like, or just want to say hi, please drop me a line.
(Wow, you read the whole damn thing. Thank you. 🍪
