Founded when I was 16, Wildflower Wax Co. was a vinyl record store based in Singapore.
Originally just a method to save some cash when I was first tending to my vinyl hobby, I eventually grew it into a fully operating side hustle that blended my own music curation, creative direction and all that I found amongst the wooden crates to build Wildflower into what it was – a brainchild that toed business and pleasure, and quite certainly, became the project that defined me as a young creative.
In 2020, lockdown gave me solid time to reassess my relationship with this burgeoning online store that I built in my childhood bedroom. I revamped Wildflower’s concept, gave it a fresh visual identity, and developed new marketing strategies. It started to grow legs, and think on its own.
In July 2021, Wildflower defied the odds and made its move into physical retail, with the multi-label creative store Spades Room.
We’ve been featured on Esquire, FEMALE, and Time Out Magazine.
A few spins along the way, Wildflower has had the privilege of participating at wonderful pop-ups around the island, being a featured partner of Singapore Art Week, and even counting Universal Music Group as a client.
And it was just getting started. Wildflower was an extension of my personality.
Throughout its entire run, it was just one person who ran the day-to-day.
I loved it a lot. There were mistakes, and the copy was not perfect,
but I keep the distance to keep it mine.
It was our little take on Dover Street Market.
Its farewell was well documented – we sent it off with some merchandise, of course.
