Inspired by Jenny Holzer’s Truisms (1977–1979),
which utilises nearly 300 aphorisms and slogans to convey commonly held truths and clichés,
“Sinkie Truisms” reassesses the personal motivations behind Singaporean daily life,
seeking to understand the humor that enables the Singaporean to indulge in repetitive social and ethical behaviors.
Just a fun idea that popped into my head one day on the bus home, and to appreciate the ingenuity
of the toxic uncles on HardwareZone EDMW with their coinage of the term “Sinkie”.
